I have been an AT&T user for more than 10 years and I do not face too many problems with their email services. But there was this one time recently wherein I wanted to access my AT&T email but the at&t email is not working. Considering that I’m not a tech-savvy person, I had some issues resetting my account. My situation inspired me to share the details that I learned so that people like me can get the help their need. Let me share with you the various ways I learned how to reset my account.
Troubleshooting steps if at&t email is not working
Problem 1 – Login issues due to which at&t email is not working
- Log on to att.com to sign in to your email account.

- Provide your username and password
- You can select Save user ID (optional)
- Click on Sign in
Problem 2 – Cannot log in to AT&T through outlook
- Go on safe mode and run outlook
- Enter the configuration settings correctly
- IMAP
Incoming mail server: imap.mail.att.net
Outgoing mail server: smtp.mail.att.net
- POP3
Incoming mail server: inbound.att.net
Outgoing mail server: outbound.att.net
- Try to temporarily disable the anti-virus software as it can also cause interference.
Problem 3 – Not able to receive or send because at&t email is not working
3. A Not able to send emails from the at&t email account
- Make sure that the attachments you send are within the acceptable limit.
- Make sure that you enter the correct email address of the recipient so that you do not receive the failed delivery notification.
- Ensure that you have not blocked the recipient’s email.
3. B Not able to receive emails to the at&t email account
- Try to use another browser to log in to your AT&T account
- Check if you have activated any filters for your incoming mails
- Clear the cookies and cache from the browser history
Problem 4 – AT&T Website is non-responsive
- Open your browser and do a google search to find out if the at&t server is down or not.
- You can also check the same information through websites
- Call the customer support team to find out if the server is down from their end.
- If there is an issue from your end, report it to customer service for a resolution.
Problem 5 – at&t email is not working on the iPhone device
- Check if your mobile data is on or off
- Re-add your AT&T email login details after removing it. To do that you would need to
- Choose Mail, Contact, and Calendar settings
- Tap Others from the Add Account Sub Menu
- To add the log-in details you need to choose to add a mail account
- Fill in the required details including the incoming mail server settings
- Fill in the required details including the outgoing mail server settings
- Save the changes you made and then restart your iPhone.
Problem 6 – at&t email is not working on Android device
- Tap Others from the menu option and choose to Add a new account
- Enter your email or account information like your user name and password and then select Login
- Enter the Incoming mail server settings mentioned below
- IMAP server: imap.mai.att.net
- Security type: SSL
- Port: 993
- Enter the Outgoing mail server settings mentioned below
- IMAP server: smtp.mail.att.net
- Security type: SSL
- Port: 465
- The additional details you would need to provide would be
- Verification for sending an email – Yes
- Username – Email
- Password: your AT&T account password
Problem 7 – Password issues when at&t email is not working
7. A Process to reset password with temporary password option
- Log on to att.com to sign in to your email account.

- Select Forgot password option
- Provide your Last Name or AT&T username/user ID
- Choose Temporary Password and follow the directions
- Enter the temporary password you receive
- Type the new password and reconfirm the same
- Go back to the sign-in page
- Type the User name and new password
- You can select Save user ID (optional)
- Click on Sign in
7. B Process to reset password with security question option
- Log on to att.com to sign in to your email account.

- Select Forgot password option
- Provide your Last Name or AT&T username/user ID
- Choose a Security question and follow the directions
- Provide the answer to the question and click Next
- Type the new password and reconfirm the same
- Go back to the sign-in page
- Type the User name and new password
- You can select Save user ID (optional)
- Click on Sign in
7. C Process to reset account if you forget your user name and password
- Log on to att.com You can also follow the link- https://www.att.com/myatt/lgn/resources/auth/login/haloc/goto-login
- On the log in page select Forgot ID option
- Provide an alternate email address
- Choose from one of the options about how you would like to get your user ID
- Go back to the sign-in page and then sign in using the USER ID
- Follow the Forgot Password process
- Type the new password and reconfirm the same
- Go back to the sign-in page
- Type the User name and new password
- You can select Save user ID (optional)
- Click on Sign in
