I often have a tough time setting multiple accounts on my phone because if have too many accounts to handle. When I am on the go, I need to be able to access my email at all times just in case there is something urgent. Recently I was looking out to configure my att net email settings for iPhone users. Let me share with you the steps that I took to configure the settings on my new iPhone.
Basic Configuring Prerequisites for at&t net email settings for iphone users
- You would need to ensure that you have a secured and strong internet connection
- A valid and active AT&T Email account like the password and username or email address
- The relevant AT&T Email Server Settings that is mentioned in the next section of the article are based on the iPhone Version.

- Outgoing Server: smtp.mail.att.net
- Outgoing Port: 465 or 587

- Incoming server: inbound.att.net
- Incoming Port:110
- Outgoing Server: outbound.att.net

- Type of encrypted connection: SSL
Steps to configure att net email settings for iphone users
Step 1: Configuration of settings
Go to the Settings menu of the device either from the main menu or from the settings options icon located on top of the screen.
Step 2: Setting Calendars, Contacts, and Mail options
Go to the option that says Mail, Contacts, and Calendars and look for the settings option.
Step 3: Account Addition
Just below the iCloud tag, you will get the Add Account option. Select that option to start the configuration process.
Step 4: Other nitty-gritty
From the list of server providers, you need to look out for ATT.net. Just in case it is not to be seen in the list you can select the option – OTHER.
Step 5: Adding Email Account
To move ahead with the registration or set-up process, you need to select the Add Mail Account option.
Step 6: Providing essential information
Name: Your complete name
Email: Your registered AT&T email address
Password: Your registered AT&T account password
Description: A short and simple description or code name
Step 7: Moving on to the Next Step
After providing the necessary AT&T account information, you need to go on to the AT&T Email Server Settings option after clicking the NEXT button
Step 8: Settings for Incoming Mail Server
For IMAP
- Hostname: Type ‘imap.mail.att.net’
- Username: Your registered AT&T email address or username
- Password: You registered your AT&T account password
For POP3
- Hostname: Type ‘inbound.att.net’
- Username: Your registered AT&T email address or username
- Password: You registered your AT&T account password
Step 9: Settings for Outgoing Mail Server
For IMAP
- Hostname: Type ‘smtp.mail.att.net’
- Username: Your registered AT&T email address or username
- Password: You registered your AT&T account password
For POP3
- Hostname: Type ‘outbound.att.net’
- Username: Your registered AT&T email address or username
- Password: You registered your AT&T account password
Step 10: Saving the settings
Once you have completed the necessary inputs, it is always advisable that you first check the information that you have entered. If you are sure that you have not missed out on anything else, then click on the SAVE option and ensure that you have checked marked or switched on the MAIL option as well.
Step 11: Mail Server –Incoming
To check if the Incoming Mail Server is configured, go to the Advanced section located under the AT&T email account. Check if you see the below-mentioned settings.
- USE SSL: Yes
- Authentication: Registered AT&T password
- Server Port: For IMPA- 993 and for POP3 – 995
Step 12: Mail Server – Outgoing
To ensure that your outgoing mail server is configured, you would need to visit the Mail Server Section located under the Outgoing Mail Server menu. Verify the information is the same that is mentioned below
- USE SSL: Yes
- Authentication: Registered AT&T password
- Server Port: 465
Step 13: Restarting your device
After completing the steps mentioned above, you would then need to click on the Done button and go back to the main Settings menu. To complete the configuration, it is advisable that you restart your device so that the new changes can take effect.
Step 14: Using your AT&T Email Account on the device
Now that you have completed the configuration process, you can start using your AT&T email account on your iPhone for sending or receiving emails. If you want you can also use your AT&T account through Yahoo by following the below-mentioned procedure
- Go to Settings on your iPhone Device
- Tap on Mail, Contact Calendar
- Choose the option that says Accounts
- Select Add Account
- Instead of choosing Other select the Yahoo option as the email service provider
- Follow the above-mentioned steps starting from 5 to 13.
